Solar Power, class study sheet.

Solar Power

Pros and Cons
Pros

v  It only effects from how they are made in the factory, it benefits more than it detriments.
v  It’s the most efficient way to get a hold of electricity.
v  Receiving renewable fuels can be noisy, with mining and such. But solar is very quiet.
v  You don’t need to be connected to a city, you can create solar power in the middle of nowhere, as long as there is sun.
v  You don’t need to find space for them, they can just be installed on your rooftop.
v  They may be expensive but all that money will pay back over time, without power bills and all.

Cons
v  The flat rate of solar cells is a factor
v  The weather is an issue and can affect the solar cells
v  The pollution within the atmosphere can affect the effectiveness.

How they work

The light comes upon the solar panels; there are 2 pieces of silicon that create an electromagnetic field which fill the conductor with excess electrons, causing the light to spark an electric current then powering anything apart of the current.

History

The study of using solar power for electricity started in 1972 when scientists tried over 3000 methods of solar energy generation. We had a lot of motive to do so because we really realized how much we depend upon other countries for oil and other power sources. When the 1990s came around it took off and became much more popular, more people had them installed into their houses and over a million people did so. Today solar power is very popular, especially in desolate places. Not a whole lot has changed within the technology of solar power, it’s still either heating liquids to work turbines or light striking a conductor to begin an electric current.

Overview

Solar power is without a doubt the most efficient way of harnessing power, and we can use it for so much more than just homes, we can use it for cars, outdoor devices, and even entire corporate towers. Solar Energy should be used much more in our time than it is, It has been available to the public since the 90s at least, so it’s been 20 years or so and we are yet to publicize the technology even more.
